Community leader (Bristol)

5 years

Do you feel called to live and serve in mission in an urban outer estate area?

This role is one of leadership and development in a new season for the community of Lee Abbey Knowle West. The appointed leader will be expected to discern and shape a fresh vision in the light of the community’s story and enable the community in deeper discipleship and mission, sharing God’s saving love.

A community of people of all ages, active in their neighbourhood, lives at Lee Abbey House, a centrally located 8 bedroomed community house. After nearly 3 decades of excellent relationships with local residents and local churches, this is a time full of potential for new members to move in and discover fresh ways of mission in the South Bristol housing estate of Knowle West.

Is God calling you to mission and leadership in community? We want to see this small missional community thrive as it lives out Lee Abbey’s core commitment to communicate Christ through relationships.

We are looking for a person with:

  • a passion for growing and making disciples;
  • a calling to work in an area of urban poverty;
  • experience of leadership, community life and service in wider community transformation would be beneficial;
  • the gifts to hold, grow and guard vision for incarnational community life.

The role is in addition to being a full member of the community, with its time commitments. Fulfilment of this leadership role would give space for the appointed leader to have part time paid work elsewhere. The role may suit a single person, a couple (where the role could be shared), or a family.

The community house offers single, couple or family accommodation.

Our expectation is that the leader would commit to a five year period, with reviews.
